What Is the Role of HR in Preventing Workplace Violence?

HR is typically the function that turns the legal duty to prevent workplace violence into practical action. Under the Health and Safety at Work Act 1974, employers must protect workers from work-related violence so far as reasonably practicable, and the Management of Health and Safety at Work Regulations require a formal risk assessment covering that risk specifically.

In most organisations, HR owns the health and safety policy, coordinates that risk assessment, and arranges training matched to the level of risk identified, rather than a generic one-size-fits-all course. HR is also usually the function that decides who should attend conflict management training across different teams and roles, and maintains the incident-reporting records that the law requires.

Getting this right usually means working with a provider who can align delivery to the actual risk profile identified, such as Stand2's Conflict Management & Personal Safety course, built for exactly that purpose.

Excellent. Done a few courses over the years regarding conflict management and this was the best. Relaxed teaching and no one was afraid to make a mistake or ask any questions. Enjoyed this much more than my recent SIA renewal in all honesty.

Really thoughtful and experienced teachers. After the training I felt really confident in conflict resolution and physical intervention. Thank you now I know how to protect myself, the general public and my organisation if a situation comes up.

Very well structured course and effectively taught. Techniques and solutions were very helpful.

I recently completed training at Stand2 and had a great experience. The course was well organised, engaging and delivered by Chris C, who explained everything clearly using practical, real-life examples. The training has given me greater confidence in managing conflict, assessing risk, and keeping myself and others safe. I would highly recommend this course to anyone looking to develop these important skills.
