Level 02 | FOR RISING RISK SETTINGS

Conflict Management Training

When verbal conflict carries a real risk of turning physical, the right response can mean the difference between a difficult interaction and a dangerous one.

Our Level 2 programme builds on de-escalation foundations to equip staff with the skills to manage conflict confidently, including safe, low-level breakaway techniques for environments where personal safety may be at risk.

01Training Overview

Our Level 2 conflict management training equips your staff to handle rising-risk situations with confidence.

Level 2 builds on the core principles introduced in Level 1, strengthening personal safety and defensible decision-making in environments where interactions can become unpredictable. The focus is on helping staff assess situations effectively, manage conflict professionally and make proportionate choices that can be clearly justified if later reviewed or challenged.

Level 2 is often selected by organisations where staff may face aggression or personal safety concerns, but are not expected to routinely use physical intervention techniques as part of their role.

06Frequently Asked Questions

Can’t find what you’re looking for? Get in touch and we will answer any questions you may have!

How do I know if Level 2 is appropriate for our risk level?
Level 2 is designed for environments where challenging behaviour, aggression or personal safety concerns may arise, but where physical intervention is not routinely required. It’s often chosen by organisations looking for a more structured approach to conflict management and personal safety.
Do staff need to complete Level 1 first before completing Level 2?
No. Level 2 includes the core principles needed to participate effectively, however prior Level 1 knowledge is useful.
Does Level 2 include physical intervention?
No. Only low-level personal safety strategies such as safe withdrawal or breakaway principles may be introduced. Full physical intervention is covered at Level 3.
Is this aligned with our organisational policy?
Yes. We work with you before delivery to understand your policies, risk assessments, and operational expectations to ensure alignment and defensibility.
Is this suitable for staff who work alone?
Yes. Level 2 includes a dedicated Lone Worker Safety programme designed specifically for staff who operate independently or without immediate support.
Is the training aligned with current legislation and best practice?
Yes. Our programmes are aligned with relevant legal, ethical and sector-specific guidance and have been independently medically reviewed.
Can you tailor the scenarios to our specific environment?
Yes. Scenarios, examples, and risk profiles are adapted following a Training Needs Analysis to reflect your staff’s real-world challenges.
How do you ensure staff feel comfortable during training?
We use a trauma-informed approach that prioritises psychological safety. Participation is always by choice, activities are facilitated sensitively and staff are never required to take part in anything they are uncomfortable with.
How does Level 2 differ from Level 1?
While Level 1 focuses primarily on early intervention and de-escalation, Level 2 is designed for environments where interactions can become more complex and personal safety may be a consideration. It introduces a more structured approach to conflict management, situational awareness and defensible decision-making.

Excellent. Done a few courses over the years regarding conflict management and this was the best. Relaxed teaching and no one was afraid to make a mistake or ask any questions. Enjoyed this much more than my recent SIA renewal in all honesty.

Really thoughtful and experienced teachers. After the training I felt really confident in conflict resolution and physical intervention. Thank you now I know how to protect myself, the general public and my organisation if a situation comes up.

Very well structured course and effectively taught. Techniques and solutions were very helpful.

I recently completed training at Stand2 and had a great experience. The course was well organised, engaging and delivered by Chris C, who explained everything clearly using practical, real-life examples. The training has given me greater confidence in managing conflict, assessing risk, and keeping myself and others safe. I would highly recommend this course to anyone looking to develop these important skills.
