SOCIAL CARE & SUPPORTED LIVING
Social care carries a
weight most sectors don’t. So does our training.
Social care and supported living staff work with some of the most vulnerable people in our communities – and they do so in environments where risk is constant, oversight is close, and the consequences of poor decision-making are serious. Stand2 works with social care providers across the UK to develop the training capability that helps teams respond safely, act within their legal framework, and protect both the people they support and themselves.
Social care staff face a level and type of risk that most other professions don’t experience. They work with people in extreme distress, manage behaviour that can be unpredictable and dangerous, and make decisions that will be scrutinised by regulators, coroners, and courts. The regulatory and legal framework governing the use of restraint and physical intervention in social care is specific, demanding, and subject to constant change. Training that doesn’t reflect that framework isn’t just inadequate – it’s a risk.
Stand2 works with social care providers across residential care, supported living, learning disability services, mental health settings, and domiciliary care. We develop the clinical reasoning, communication strategies, and physical intervention skills that allow staff to respond safely, act within their legal framework, and demonstrate that every decision was necessary, proportionate, and in the best interests of the person they support. Our programmes are developed in close alignment with CQC requirements and the legal framework governing care.

Our Social Care Courses
Social care is one of the most complex and high-stakes environments for conflict management and physical intervention training. Our programmes are built specifically for care settings – developing the clinical reasoning, legal understanding, and practical skills your teams need to work safely, act proportionately, and demonstrate that every intervention was justified.
Why social care providers choose Stand2.
Warwickshire County Council Family Help Teams
Warwickshire County Council’s Family Help Teams provide tailored support to families across the community, helping strengthen relationships, build resilience and prevent challenges from escalating. Their work often involves supporting families through complex situations while coordinating access to wider services and support networks.
Family Help practitioners regularly work in emotionally charged situations where expectations, pressures and communication barriers can make conversations difficult. The council wanted a consistent approach that would help staff engage positively with families, maintain professional boundaries and make confident decisions while supporting staff wellbeing.
Stand2 delivered training to approximately 300 Family Help practitioners across Warwickshire, providing a practical framework for communication, risk awareness and safe decision-making. The programme focused on helping staff navigate challenging conversations, reduce escalation and build positive engagement with families.
Staff reported greater confidence when managing sensitive conversations, setting boundaries and responding to challenging situations. The training also helped create a more consistent approach across teams, supporting safer practice and better outcomes for both practitioners and the families they support.
