What Precautions Should Workers Take for Home Visits?
Before you go: tell a colleague or the office exactly where you're going and when you expect to be back, check any known history or risk flags on the property or resident, and agree a check-in time so someone notices promptly if you don't call in.
On arrival: know where the exit is before you sit down, stay near the door if anything feels uncertain, and trust your own read of a situation enough to leave early rather than pushing through discomfort to finish the visit as planned.
None of this replaces judgement built through experience and training - it supports it. See how we support housing and community teams more broadly.
