How to Politely Ask Customers to Leave
Lead with a clear statement rather than a question - "I need you to leave now" holds more firmly than "would you mind leaving?", which invites a negotiation you don't want to have.
Keep your tone level rather than apologetic; over-softening the request is often read as optional.
If they don't move, repeat the same line rather than reaching for stronger wording as changing tactic partway through is usually what causes staff to lose control of the interaction.
Retail staff have solid legal footing here too: refusing service or asking someone to leave doesn't need a specific trigger beyond genuine, reasonable grounds.
Bring in a colleague or manager after one calm repeat goes unheeded, rather than continuing alone.
This kind of firm, low-drama disengagement is exactly what Stand2's retail and leisure training is built to develop.
