Stand2 Affiliated Trainer Programme

This isn’t a train the
trainer course.

It’s a licensed partnership.

Most train the trainer programmes will take anyone. We don’t. The Stand2 Affiliated Trainer Programme is designed for organisations with established trainers or educators already in place – people who deliver learning as a core part of their role and who are ready to add Stand2’s accredited, medically reviewed curriculum to their expertise. If that’s you, this is the most rigorous and well-supported internal training programme in the sector.

01.Training Overview

Is this right for your organisation?

The affiliated trainer programme delivers the strongest results for organisations that already have experienced trainers or educators in place – people who are actively delivering learning as a core part of their role and who will use these skills regularly once certified.

It works particularly well for organisations that are too large or geographically dispersed for external delivery to be practical, or where operational requirements mean internal training capability is essential. NHS trusts, ambulance services, probation services, and large security or facilities organisations with established training teams are typically the strongest fit.

It is less effective – and we will tell you this upfront – where the candidate has limited training experience or where the certified trainer will only deliver occasionally. In those cases, Stand2 delivering the training directly is almost always the better option. It costs less to set up, the quality is guaranteed, and there is no ongoing governance burden on your organisation.

If you are not sure which route is right for you, talk to us. We would rather have an honest conversation early than see an organisation invest in the programme and not get the return they were expecting.

02.What the programme involves

What the programme involves

The Stand2 Affiliated Trainer Programme is a six-day intensive development programme delivered by Stand2’s own trainers. It covers the technical content of the curriculum, instructional skills, coaching techniques, facilitation, risk management, and the legal and ethical framework within which conflict management and physical intervention training must be delivered.

Candidates who successfully complete the programme and pass their assessed teach sessions are certified as Stand2 Approved Instructors. Certification is issued by Stand2’s awarding body and recorded in the Stand2 Student Training Register – the definitive record of who is authorised to deliver Stand2 programmes.

The programme is built around Stand2’s proprietary training frameworks, developed over 25 years of operational delivery and independently medically reviewed. These are not generic frameworks lifted from elsewhere – they are Stand2’s intellectual property, and certified trainers are licensed to deliver them under the terms of a formal agreement.

On completion, organisations enter a licence agreement with Stand2 that governs how the programme is delivered, by whom, and to what standard. That licence includes mandatory quality assurance visits, annual instructor recertification, ongoing access to training materials through StandPoint, and telephone and email support from Stand2’s training team.

03.What you get

What you get as a licensed partner

Becoming a Stand2 Affiliated Trainer organisation is not a one-time transaction. The licence creates an ongoing relationship with Stand2 that is designed to protect the standard of delivery, support your trainers, and ensure your organisation remains compliant and confident in its training capability.

As a licensed partner you receive:

Training materials – full access to Stand2’s lesson plans, presentations, workbooks, handouts, and risk assessments for all licensed programmes. Materials are maintained and updated by Stand2 to reflect changes in legislation, professional standards, and sector guidance. You will never be left delivering out-of-date content.

StandPoint access – all approved instructors receive access to Stand2’s online learning platform, giving them ongoing access to resources, technique videos, and supporting materials between training cycles.

Quality assurance visits – a Stand2 trainer will observe your approved instructors delivering the programme at least once per licence period. This is a mandatory condition of the licence — not optional — and exists to protect the integrity of the programme and your organisation’s reputation.

Annual recertification – all approved instructors must complete an annual refresher and assessed teach to maintain their certification. Instructors whose certification has lapsed may not deliver training until recertified.

Ongoing support – direct access to Stand2’s training team by telephone and email during business hours for any questions relating to delivery, materials, or the licence.

04.Entry Requirements

To be considered for the Stand2 Affiliated Trainer Programme, candidates must meet the following requirements:

Teaching qualification – candidates must hold a Level 3 Award in Education and Training (AET) or equivalent qualification. This is a mandatory requirement and cannot be waived.

Active training experience – candidates must be working trainers or educators who regularly deliver learning to groups. The programme is designed to develop and extend existing instructional capability, not to build it from scratch.

Operational experience – relevant experience in conflict management, personal safety, security, healthcare, or a related operational environment is required. Candidates coming to the subject without any relevant background are unlikely to meet the standard.

Physical capability – candidates must be able to safely demonstrate, explain, and coach a range of physical intervention techniques. Good physical coordination and the ability to accurately replicate skills are essential. All candidates complete a pre-course health screening prior to the programme commencing.

Insurance – all approved instructors must hold a minimum of £5 million Public Liability Insurance and £1 million Professional Indemnity Insurance, or be covered under an employer’s policy where appropriate, before delivering any Stand2 programme.

Not sure whether your candidates meet these requirements? Talk to us before applying – we would rather advise you honestly at this stage than see the wrong person go through the programme.

06.Frequently Asked Questions

Can’t find what you’re looking for? Call us or drop us a message.

Do I need a teaching qualification to become a Stand2 Affiliated Trainer?
Yes. Candidates must hold a Level 3 Award in Education and Training (AET) or an equivalent qualification. This provides the instructional foundation required to deliver learning safely, effectively and to a consistent standard.
Do I need previous experience presenting?
The programme develops and refines instructional skills, coaching techniques, and facilitation – but it works best for candidates who are already comfortable delivering learning to groups. You don’t need to be an expert presenter, but you do need to be an active trainer or educator who regularly stands in front of a room. If that’s not your background, the programme is unlikely to be the right fit.
What personal skills do I need to be successful on this programme?
Candidates need to be confident communicators who can adapt their delivery to different learners and different situations. Strong organisational skills, the ability to remain calm under pressure, and genuine enthusiasm for developing others are all essential. Relevant operational experience in conflict management, personal safety, or a related field is also important – this is not a programme for someone coming to the subject cold.
Are there any physical requirements for this programme?
Yes. As the programme prepares trainers to deliver physical intervention training, candidates must be able to safely demonstrate, explain and coach a range of practical skills. Good physical coordination and the ability to accurately replicate techniques are essential to ensure learners receive safe, effective instruction. These requirements help maintain the high standards of delivery expected of Stand2 Affiliated Trainers and support alignment with independently medically reviewed training practices.
Do I need insurance to deliver Stand2 training?
Yes. All Stand2 Affiliated Trainers must hold appropriate insurance before delivering any Stand2 programme, including a minimum of £5 million Public Liability Insurance and £1 million Professional Indemnity Insurance, or be covered under an employer’s policy where appropriate.
How is this different from other train the trainer programmes?
Most train the trainer programmes deliver a short course, issue a certificate, and leave you to get on with it. The Stand2 Affiliated Trainer Programme is a formal licensed partnership. Your trainers are certified to deliver Stand2’s accredited, medically reviewed curriculum – and that certification comes with ongoing obligations on both sides. Stand2 conducts mandatory quality assurance visits, provides annual recertification, maintains and updates all training materials, and remains actively involved in the standard of delivery throughout the licence period. The certificate is the start of the relationship, not the end of it.
What happens if a trainer leaves our organisation?
If an approved instructor leaves, you are required to notify Stand2 within 10 working days. Their certification is removed from the register and they may no longer deliver Stand2 programmes. If you need to replace them, new candidates must complete the full programme before delivering any training. This process exists to protect the integrity of the licence and the standard of delivery – and it’s one of the reasons organisations that invest in the programme take trainer retention seriously.

Excellent. Done a few courses over the years regarding conflict management and this was the best. Relaxed teaching and no one was afraid to make a mistake or ask any questions. Enjoyed this much more than my recent SIA renewal in all honesty.

Really thoughtful and experienced teachers. After the training I felt really confident in conflict resolution and physical intervention. Thank you now I know how to protect myself, the general public and my organisation if a situation comes up.

Very well structured course and effectively taught. Techniques and solutions were very helpful.
