•01COURSE OVERVIEW
Equipping staff to recognise protest dynamics, maintain personal safety, and make proportionate, defensible decisions in fast-moving situations.
This programme gives staff the situational awareness, communication skills, and decision-making frameworks they need to operate safely and professionally in environments affected by protest activity. Participants learn to read crowd dynamics, recognise escalation indicators, and apply structured communication strategies that reduce tension and maintain safety.
The course clarifies roles, responsibilities, and limitations – supporting staff to stay within organisational and legal boundaries under pressure. It is suitable for a wide range of civilian and corporate roles operating around nationally important assets, critical infrastructure, public-facing services, and high-profile sites.
This is not public order or enforcement training. It contains no enforcement tactics and is designed exclusively for civilian and corporate environments.

National Energy Network – Protecting Critical Infrastructure
Stand2 delivered Protest Management & Safety training to a major national energy provider responsible for critical infrastructure and public safety. Staff operate across extensive networks and public facing locations where protest activity can impact operations.Â
The programme focused on situational awareness, role clarity, and professional communication that reduces escalation. Teams reported greater confidence in managing on-site interactions and improved coordination with partners to maintain safety and continuity around nationally important assets.
Training that’s built around the environments your staff operate in – and the protest scenarios they may actually face.
Delivery
This course is delivered in person through structured input, practical communication exercises, and scenario-based discussion built around realistic protest environments. Every session is built around your organisation’s specific sites, operational risks, and the types of protest activity your staff may encounter. StandPoint, our online learning platform, supports the programme with additional resources and materials.
Assessment
Learning is assessed through observation, participation, scenario discussion, and reflective contribution. There are no formal written exams – assessment is continuous and based on how staff apply what they’ve learned in realistic discussion and scenario exercises.
Certification
Every participant who successfully completes the programme is formally certified by Stand2, receiving a uniquely numbered certificate that confirms they have met the programme’s assessed standards. Each delegate is entered onto the Stand2 Training Register, which we maintain on your behalf – giving your organisation a clear, auditable record of who has been trained and when refresher training is due.
Training environment
All learning is delivered using trauma-informed principles with clear consent and opt-out options throughout. The training environment is designed to be supportive and constructive — including for staff who may have anxiety about protest activity or large crowds.
